UK PM Starmer
The UK will do “all it can to support and sustain this ceasefire” following the agreement reached overnight, Prime Minister Keir Starmer says. “I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world,” he said.
“Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.”
Downing Street said the prime minister would travel to the Gulf to meet leaders from countries on the front line and set out full support for the ceasefire.
He would reiterate the need for a long-term diplomatic resolution to ensure the ceasefire leads to a lasting agreement in meetings with regional leaders.
He would also hold talks on ensuring the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains permanent, with the UK continuing to lead international efforts. Source : BBC
