The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released the names and photographs of 10 Bangladeshi nationals arrested as “dangerous criminals” in the United States.

Following President Donald Trump’s election promise, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended 400,000 undocumented immigrants over the past year.

Among them, 56,000 had prior convictions for serious crimes and were previously released after serving their sentences.

DHS said those arrested in this operation include individuals convicted or accused of child abuse, rape, sexual assault, drug trafficking, fraud, credit card fraud, armed robbery, and assault.

Deputy Secretary Lauren Bess said law enforcers had arrested thousands of undocumented immigrants involved in serious crimes during the recent operation.

“Those who attack children or harm innocent people should have no place to stay in the United States. They pose a serious threat to society,” she said.

The arrestees, labelled “worst of the worst”, are:

• Kazi Abu Saeed: Fort Scott, Kansas; charges: exploiting a minor, illegal gambling operations, gambling-related offences
• Shahid Hasan: Raleigh, North Carolina; charges: carrying a concealed weapon, shoplifting
• Mohammad Ahmed: Buffalo, New York; charges: sexual assault
• MD Hossain: Queens, New York City; charges: sexual assault
• Mahtabuddin Ahmed: Chantilly, Virginia; charges: selling marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs
• Nawaz Khan: Marlin, Texas; charges: serious drug offences
• Shahriar Abir: Pensacola, Florida; charges: theft
• Alamgir Chowdhury: Mount Clemens, Michigan; charges: credit card fraud
• Ishtiaq Rafique: Manassas, Virginia; charges: weapons violations, possession of synthetic drugs
• Konok Parvez: Phoenix, Arizona; charges: fraud-related offences

DHS emphasized that the operation targets those posing the greatest threat to public safety and underlines the government’s zero-tolerance approach to violent and exploitative crime.
