Selina Hayat Ivy
Appellate Division chamber judge has stayed the High Court’s bail order for former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five cases, including four related to killings during the 2024 mass uprising. Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed the order on Thursday.
The High Court had granted Ivy six months’ interim bail in these five cases on Feb 26.
However, on the same day, she was named in another case involving the murder of one Selim Mondal.
The former mayor remains in prison as her bail application in the Selim murder case was rejected by a court on Thursday.
Advocates Sara Hossain and Md Motahar Hossain Raju represented Ivy, while deputy attorneys general Zahirul Islam Suman and Mohammad Akteruz-zaman appeared for the state.
Sara told bdnews24.com that the Appellate Division has scheduled a full hearing on the bail matter for March 9.
Ivy, a long-serving mayor of Narayanganj, has been facing a series of cases following the political transition in August.
